Color & Design Direction while the design is still moving.
Three rows of powder coated sample panels on concrete, including gradients and metallics

Color and design direction.

Find the right color before anything gets coated.

I work with designers, makers, and engineering teams to choose the color, sheen, and texture of an object, then prove it on real panels. It's the part of the work I like most.

How it works

What it includes.

01

Color direction

We talk through what the object is, where it lives, and how it should feel. I come back with a short list of colors and finishes worth testing.

02

Test panels

Real samples in real coatings: sheen, texture, fades, metallics, and how an edge wears. You hold them before you choose.

03

Prototypes

The chosen finish on an actual part, so you can see it on the shape and decide which details to hide and which to show.

04

Finish spec

A written spec, so the finish comes out the same on every piece of a run.

Who it's for

Industrial designers, lighting and furniture makers, architects, artists, and engineering teams. I've worked this way on lamps, furniture, glassblowing equipment, aerospace interiors, and wave energy hardware.

Before the booth, I spent twenty years as a designer and creative director. That's what I bring to the table, along with the coating itself.

Pricing

  • Test panels and samplesfrom $250

The finishing itself is priced like any other finishing work. Bigger projects get one price up front, so you know the number before we start.
